Women's Track and Field Land More NAIA "A" Standards in Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Cumberland Women's Track and Field team took part in the second day of the Vanderbilt Invitational, having strong performances from several different athletes.

Competing in the women's first event of the day, Isabella Lehtinen ran in the 60m hurdles. Her time of 8.98 put her just shy of an NAIA "B" standard, though she was the highest finisher from the NAIA.

Lauren Crissinger and Sharon Jerpo also competed in the one mile race, finishing in 76 and 78 respectively. Crissinger ran a time of 5:50.02 and Jerop trailed her slightly with a time of 5:54.16.

Securing her third solo event "A" standard time, Praise Idamadudu ran a 54.72 in her 400m dash, a time that well surpasses the 56.45 threshold for competitors. Her time was good for 4th overall on the day, and she now holds the fastest time in the NAIA this indoor season. Her teammate Leesa Mutandwa was just past the one minute mark in the event, running it in 1:00.52 for 41st place.

In the throwing events Daveina Watson and Zoe Vlk competed, with the former managing a podium finish. Though Vlk was last week's MSC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, today it was Watson who shined with an NAIA "A" standard throw of 14.73 meters in the shot put, good for third place among some strong NCAA DI competition and the second best effort in the NAIA this season. Vlk was also no slouch though, throwing herself to a 12.64 meter, 12th place finish.

Alexa Rumpf was the final competitor of the day for Cumberland, running a 2:49.17 in the 800m, landing her in 62nd place in the event.

Cumberland will next take part in the PNC Lenny Lyles event in Louisville, Kentucky, though they will have a weekend off as they don't compete until January 31st.
