Phoenix Take Second at MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Cumberland University's women's bowling team delivered an impressive performance to finish second overall at their latest competition. The Phoenix tallied a total score of 5861, narrowly trailing first-place Lindenwood University, who posted a score of 5925. Cumberland's success was fueled by strong team efforts in both the team game rounds and Baker format.

In the team games, Cumberland opened with their highest score of the day, a dominant 1111, followed by consistent scores of 1038, 997, and 1061, for a total of 4207 pins. Transitioning to the Baker format, the Phoenix maintained their momentum, posting standout games of 226 in the third and fifth Baker rounds and finishing with a cumulative Baker total of 1654. This well-rounded performance solidified Cumberland's second-place finish and demonstrated their consistency and competitiveness throughout the tournament.

Lindenwood University took first place total score of 5925, excelling in team games and the Baker format. Cumberland University followed closely in second with 5861. Midway University claimed third with 5781, posting the highest Baker total of 1808, including two 266 games. University of Pikeville finished fourth with 5658, highlighted by a 1070 team game and 237 in the Baker rounds. Milligan University rounded out the top five with 5578, led by a strong 1087 opening game and consistent Baker performances.

Jennifer Chiarillo finished in 6th place with a total score of 883, averaging 220.75 over four games. Alyssa Campbell followed closely in 11th place with a total score of 844 and an average of 211. Gracie Connelly also had a notable performance, securing the 13th spot with a score of 843 and an average of 210.75.

Serenity Freeman placed 17th with a total of 833 and an average of 208.25. Kathleen Schraer rounded out the performances for Cumberland, finishing in 27th place with a total score of 804 and an average of 201. 

The Phoenix are back in Louisville tomorrow to take part in the MSC Thomas Burris Memorial.
