Men's Soccer Drop One Spot to No. 14 in NAIA Coaches Poll

LEBANON, Tenn.-- Cumberland men's soccer drops one spot in the rankings to No. 14, as was announced by the NAIA this morning.

The Phoenix come into the new poll with an 8-1-2 record, dropping their first match of the season to the No. 4 ranked University of the Cumberlands in their conference opener. Cumberland did their best to avenge that loss, taking a 2-1 win over SCAD-Savannah in Georgia.

The Bees gave the Phoenix a tough time all game and nearly had a chance to level the game late on, but outstanding defending from the away side gave CU all three points. Compounding on that victory, Cumberland then poured 13 goals past UHSP on Senior Day this past weekend.

Pau Ortega led the way as he scored his first hat trick of his career, while Luis Cerejo added in two goals and three assists, taking his season total goal contributions up to 17.

Cumberland will now have the tall task of facing off with No. 2 ranked Lindsey Wilson University this afternoon, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
