Men's Soccer Set to Play Final Regular Season Home Game against Tigers

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland men's soccer will play their final regular season home game this afternoon as they host Georgetown College in Mid-South Conference play.

The Phoenix come into the match with confidence after a dominant 4-0 win at home last week over Freed-Hardeman. Cumberland controlled the game from start to finish in their last outing, as Philipp Schmidtke led the way with two goals, and both Luis Cerejo and Pau Ortega each added one. The Phoenix outshot the Lions 24-4 and held them without a single corner, while goalkeeper Eric Zalaya posted another clean sheet.

The Phoenix have now gone five matches unbeaten after dropping their lone game of the season to kick off conference action. The attack continues to show their depth and scoring prowess with multiple players contributing in front of goal.

Georgetown comes into Monday's game at 2-8-1 on the year and will be looking to find their first win in conference play. The Tigers most recently fell 5-0 to Bethel (Tenn.) and have struggled to generate consistent scoring opportunities, scoring just three goals in their last seven outings.

Cumberland has a sizable lead in the all-time series over Georgetown lead with a record of 11-3-1, though the Phoenix are 3-2 against the Tigers in their last five matches. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 PM at Nokes-Lasater Field, with coverage available through the Cumberland Sports Network.
