Men's Bowling Places Third In MSC Brandon Burns Memorial

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland Men's Bowling gets back-to-back top three finishes in Smyrna.

The Phoenix finished in third out of 17 teams at the MSC Brandon Burns Memorial with a score of 5799. SCAD-Savannah won the tournament with a score of 5907, with Campbellsville finishing in second with a score of 5854. Looking at the rest of the conference, Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fourth with a score of 5793, Lindsey Wilson finished in sixth with a score of 5676, Midway finished in eighth with a score of 5640. Pikeville finished in 10th with a score of 5558, the Cumberlands finished in 12th with a score of 5361, and Union Commonwealth 15th with a score of 5179.

The Phoenix needed the final baker game to reach that third place, entering that game, they were behind Tennessee Wesleyan by 16 pins, then Cumberland got a score of 268, which was the second highest baker score of the day, and Tennessee Wesleyan got a score of 246. In the eight baker games, Cumberland got a score of 1707, for an average of 213.375.

Individually, Jacob Ballenger led the way for Cumberland, where the junior finished with a score of 847, and had an average of 211.75, which was 19th. Malik Randolph finished with a score of 832, for an average of 208, which was just outside of the top 25 at 28th. Braxton Dedmon finished with a score of 810 for an average of 202.5. Ethan Gomez finished with a score of 809 for an average of 202.25. Finally, Logan Beasly finished with a score of 794, for an average of 198.5.

The Phoenix have a week before they are back on the road as they go to the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic in Marietta, Georgia on November 1-2.
