Men’s Cross Country Competes at Live in Lou Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Cumberland men's cross country faced a deep field at the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday, finishing 39th overall in the Blue 8K race with a team total of 1,028 points.

Matteo Abel led the Phoenix, clocking a time of 26:21.5 to place 88th in a race that featured over 400 runners. Ethan Garcia followed with a 27:26.2 performance to take 224th, while Garrett Tunks crossed in 28:04.9 for 279th. Bela Brandl ran 28:25.4 for 300th, and Max Berkey rounded out the Cumberland lineup at 33:01.9.

Clay Peets from St. Bonaventure won the race with a time of 24:12.2. Carson Milner from Midway took second place at 24:48.5.

Otterbein captured the team title with 153 points, narrowly edging Mount Union by two points. The Phoenix will return to action on October 10 at the Ray Bullock Invitational as they continue their buildup toward the Mid-South Conference Championships.
