Men’s Bowling Doesn’t Improve on Day Two and Looks to Get Ready For the Back Half of the Season.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The Phoenix missed the top-eight qualifications in a stacked field and look to recover over the holiday break.

Cumberland drops two spots in day two to 15th with a score of 7903. The Phoenix scored 3050 in the 16 baker games for an average score of 190.625. Of the Mid-South teams, Tennessee Wesleyan jumped to tenth with a score of 8107, with 3221 points in baker play (201.3125 average), and Midway drops to 22nd with a score of 7581, with 2772 points in baker play (173.25). 

Looking at the top eight, Purdue led the field heading into match play with 8577 points, with host school McKendree 11 pins behind them with 8566 points. SCAD-Savannah sat in third with 8534 points, and Newman University behind the bees with 8371 points. In the bottom half of the top eight, Wichita State sat six pins behind Newman with 8365 points, Quincy earned 8313 points, Wartburg finished with 8226 points, and Marian (IN) rounded out the top eight with 8216 points. In match play, Wichita State was able to sweep Quincy and win the McKendree Matchgames.

For the Phoenix, they will be taking the holidays off as they rest, recover, and look ahead to the 2026 portion of their schedule. Once they return from break, they will return to Illinois and play in the Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic on January 17th and 18th.
