Women’s Bowling Reached the Semifinals in the McKendree Matchgames Tournament

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- Cumberland had a successful day two and finished in the top five for the fourth time this season.

Before the day officially started, Phoenix senior Madison Taylor was honored as a member of the all-tournament team for her third place finish individually.

The Phoenix finished the 16 baker games in 5th place with a score of 7481. Cumberland scored 2796 pins in the baker games for an average of 174.75. Within the conference, Tennessee Wesleyan finished in seventh place with a score of 7216, with 2818 pins coming from the baker games, for an average of 176.125. Since Cumberland made the top eight, the Phoenix would be going into match play.

Mount Mercy led the field into the matchgames with a score of 7797, with 2971 points coming from the baker games (185.6875 average). The rest of the top five goes as follows: Lindenwood in second with 7731 points, 3096 of those from the baker games (193.5 average). SCAD-Savannah in third with 7636 points, with 2888 in the baker games (180.5 average). Missouri Baptist in fourth with 7519 points, 2944 of those coming in day two (184 average). Cumberland rounded out the top five.

In the first round of match play, the Phoenix would face the fourth place team, Missouri Baptist. The Phoenix were able to get past the Spartans winning 2-0. This led them to face the first place team, Mount Mercy. Unlike the first round, the Phoenix could not get past the Mustangs as the Phoenix would lose 0-2. Mount Mercy was able to win the final round against SCAD-Savannah to win the McKendree Matchgames.

The Phoenix now have the holiday breaks to recover, and prepare for the 2026 half of the schedule. With their first tournament back from the break being back in Illinois for the Kegel/IBPSA Collegiate Classic on January 17th and 18th.
