Cumberland Men's Bowling Uses Strong Day Two To Reach Top Ten In Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic

MARIETTA, GA. - - Cumberland Men's Bowling battles after a tough day one to finish in the top ten at the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic.

The Phoenix finished the first day of the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic in 17th out of 23 teams with a score of 4611. Within the Mid-South, Pikeville finished in third with a score of 5082, Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fourth with a score of 5049, Midway finished in 7th with a score of 4957, and the Cumberlands finished in 10th with a score of 4807.

Individually, Logan Beasley led the way with a score of 1034 over five games, for an average of 206.8, which was good for 20th in the competition out of 191 competitors. Ethan Gomez finished with a score of 994, for an average of 198.8, which was tied for 34th. Carter Baylog was the third and final Phoenix that played all five games, where Baylog finished with a score of 870, for an average of 174. Kaden Yarborough played four games, and had an average of 162. Jacob Ballenger, Malik Randolph, and Braxton Dedmon played two games on day one. Ballenger finished with an average of 212.4, Randolph finished with an average of 165, and Dedmon finished with an average of 155.

Cumberland looks to improve in the standings on day two, where they are in striking range of the top 10. The Phoenix will play 16 baker games to improve their standings.

In those baker games, the Phoenix were able to jump up eight positions to ninth with a score of 7909. Tennessee Wesleyan qualified in second with a score of 8443, and won the entire tournament. Pikeville finished in third with a score of 8364, Midway finished in sixth with a score of 8179. Finally, Cumberlands finished in 11th with a score of 7738. The Phoenix scored 3298 pins in the bakers for an average score of 206.125, which was second best out of all teams in the tournament, with Tennessee Wesleyan being the only team to score higher with 3385 pins for an average of 211.5625.

Cumberland, who is sitting at No. 10 in the most recent RPI rankings with a record of 20-7 heading into this tournament, look to bounce back as they travel to Belleville, Illinois for the McKendree Matchgames, hosted by McKendree University on November 22-23.
