Cumberland Women's Bowling Continues Hot Start For A Top Six Finish At the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic

MARIETTA, GA. - - Cumberland Women's Bowling continues their streak of top six finishes in Georgia.

After day one, the Phoenix finished in fifth out of 14 teams with a score of 4530 through five games. In their second game, Cumberland had one of three 1000 pin games with a score of 1013. Within the conference, Pikeville is leading the tournament with a score of 4948, Tennessee Wesleyan is in third with a score of 4579, and Midway is in 12th with a score of 3726.

Individually, Gracie Connelly, Kathleen Schraer, and Serenity Freeman played all five games. With Connelly leading the way with a score of 941, for an average of 188.2, which was good for 14th. Schraer getting a score of 940, for an average of 188, which was good for a tie of 15th. Finally, Freeman scoring 914 pins, for an average of 182.8, which was good for a four-way tie of 21st. Jennifer Chiarillo and Kaylie Gibson played four games, with Chiarillo getting an average of 176.75 and Gibson averaging 183.5. Carlie Semrau only played two games, and had an average of 147.

Looking to the second day, the Phoenix scored 2735 pins in their 16 bakers games, for an average of 170.95 pins, to finish with a score of 7265 and finish in sixth place. Since only the top four reached the knockout rounds, they would not compete for the tournament championship. In the conference, Pikeville was able to win the tournament and qualify in first with a score of 8004 with 3056 pins in the baker games. Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fifth with a score of 7371, and 2792 pins in the baker games. Finally, Midway finished in 12th with a score of 6125, with 2399 pins coming from the baker games.

Cumberland has not finished a tournament lower than sixth this year, and as they sit in the No. 13 position in the RPI rankings with a record of 21-6 heading into this competition, they will look to continue their hot start as they head to the McKendree Matchgames in Belleville, Illinois, which is hosted by McKendree University, on November 22-23.
