Parker, Hunter Earn Mid-South Conference Football Player of the Week Honors

LEBANON, Tenn.--For the second straight week, Cumberland football earned the Mid-South Conference weekly awards on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, the league announced Monday. Junior quarterback Jake Parker was named the MSC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while senior linebacker Chazz Hunter earned Defensive Player of the Week honors following the Phoenix's dramatic 40-37 overtime win over the University of the Cumberlands.

Parker continued his stellar stretch of play, accounting for 292 total yards and four touchdowns to lead the Phoenix offense. The Cartersville, Georgia, native completed 8-of-13 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns, connecting on scoring strikes of 59, 80, and 24 yards, including the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime. On the ground, Parker added 71 rushing yards and a 58-yard touchdown run.

This marks Parker's second consecutive Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor and the second of his career, after earning the same award last week following his performance in the Homecoming win over No. 6 Campbellsville.

On the defensive side, Hunter anchored the Phoenix defense with a standout performance. The Bedford, Ohio, native posted a team-high 12 total tackles, including six solo stops and six assists, while also recording half a tackle for loss and an interception.

This is the first Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of Hunter's career.

Cumberland will be on the road on Saturday as CU travels to take on No. 9 Lindsey Wilson.
