Cumberland Women's Bowling Falls in MSC Championship Thriller to Pikeville

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--Cumberland women's bowling saw its conference tournament run come to an end in a dramatic seven-game series, falling to No. 2 Pikeville, 4-3, in the Mid-South Conference Championship.

After staving off elimination with three wins on Saturday, the Phoenix fought hard against Pikeville in a back-and-forth battle. Cumberland started slow, dropping the first game 168-189, but bounced back in game two with a 168-152 victory to even the match. The Phoenix carried that momentum into game three, posting their best score of the series with a 231-183 win to take a 2-1 advantage.

Pikeville responded with a narrow 161-160 win in game four before taking control with a big 193-130 victory in game five. Cumberland refused to go down without a fight, forcing a decisive game seven with a 216-159 triumph in game six.

In the final game, the Phoenix put up a strong effort, but Pikeville edged them out 179-176 to secure the series and move on in the tournament.

Cumberland showcased resilience throughout the championship, fighting off elimination multiple times before falling just short in a highly competitive match. The Phoenix will look to build on this experience as they continue to grow and compete at a high level in the seasons to come.
