Phoenix Compete in Long Distance Events During Day One of Lee University Invite

CLEVELAND, Tenn.-- Cumberland Women's Track & Field kicked off its outdoor season at the Lee University Invitational, taking on just three events in the first day of events.

In the 800-meter run, Channon Cundiff led the Phoenix with a time of 2:29.75, placing 21st. Sarah Wilkerson followed closely behind in 23rd, crossing the line in 2:29.87. Alexa Rumpf (2:40.88) and Hope Britt (2:43.90) also represented Cumberland in the event, finishing 27th and 30th, respectively.

Samantha Parker competed in the grueling 10,000-meter race to round out the team's performance at the season opener. Her time of 40:55.29 was a personal record and landed her 11th place in the event.

Zoe Vlk was unable to record a mark in the hammer throw as she fouled on her attempts.

The Phoenix will be back on the track tomorrow to round up the Lee University Invitational.
