Women's Tennis Move Up One Spot to No. 23 in Final NAIA Poll

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland women's tennis holds strong at No. 23 in the final edition of the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released by the national office on Wednesday afternoon.

The Phoenix close out the regular season with a 10-8 overall record, maintaining their spot in the national rankings after being slotted No. 24 in the previous poll. Cumberland continues to be one of three Mid-South Conference programs to earn a place in the Top 25, joining No. 3 Lindsey Wilson and No. 18 Cumberlands (Ky.). Bethel (Tenn.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) sit just outside the Top 25 in the receiving votes portion of the poll.

Keiser (Fla.) remains the top team in the nation, receiving all 14 first-place votes to stay at No. 1. Georgia Gwinnett holds firm at No. 2, while Lindsey Wilson finishes the regular season ranked third.

Louisiana Christian joins the poll for the first time this season, jumping to No. 22 after previously receiving votes.

The national ratings are determined by a panel of head coaches from across the NAIA and are calculated using a points-based system.

Cumberland now turns its attention to the Mid-South Conference Tournament beginning today in Bowling Green. The Phoenix earned the No. 3 seed in the championship bracket and will take on 6-seed Freed-Hardeman this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
