Chesnut Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland University men's golfer Patrick Chesnut has been recognized as a 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

The award, presented to student-athletes in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA, and NJCAA, recognizes excellence both on the course and in the classroom. To qualify, nominees must be a sophomore, junior, or senior academically and athletically (or in their final year of NJCAA eligibility), compete in at least 50% of their team's competitive rounds, carry a stroke average under 78.0 at the NAIA level, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. Honorees must also display high moral character and be in good standing with their institution.

Chesnut is one of just 53 NAIA men's golfers from 18 schools to earn the distinction this year.

The Athens, Ala. native is coming off a strong 2024-25 season where he earned Second Team All-Mid-South Conference honors for the first time in his career. Chesnut posted a 74.3 adjusted scoring average through 29 rounds, finishing as Cumberland's top performer at two events and collecting two Mid-South Conference Golfer of the Week awards.

Chesnut's recognition continues a tradition of academic and athletic achievement within Cumberland men's golf, as the Phoenix continue to make their mark both in competition and in the classroom.
