Women's Bowling Finishes in Top-15 In The Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic

ADDISON, Ill. -- Phoenix got a top 12 finish in a crowded tournament behind Chiarillo's consistent bowling in Addison.

Cumberland Women's Bowling finished in 11th out of 55 teams with a score of 7640. Within the Mid-South Conference, Pikeville finished in eighth place with the score of 7840, Cumberlands finished in 15th with a score of 7504, Midway finished in 42nd place with a score of 6763, and Campbellsville finished in 50th place with a score of 6382.


Since there were 55 teams were competing in the Kegel/ISBPA Collegiate Classic, so there had to be two different "squads" with the Phoenix placing in squad B.

After the first game, Cumberland sits in third place in squad B with a score of 999. In between both squads, the Phoenix are sitting in fifth. After the second game, the Phoenix dropped to fourth in squad B with a score of 1912, scoring 913 pins in the second game. After the third game, Cumberland would bounce back into the top three with a score of 2814, scoring 902 pins in the third game. Looking at the overall tournament, Cumberland stays at 10th. Cumberland would have a monster game four with a score of 1024 pins in game four for a total score of 3838. This jump puts the Phoenix into second place in squad B, and eighth place overall.

After the final game of the first day, Cumberland scored 888 pins and dropped to fourth in squad B, and ninth place overall with a total score of 4726. Mount Mercy would be leading the tournament heading into day two with a score of 5017, with University of Northwestern Ohio (5011), Judson (5005), Lindenwood (5000), and Indiana Institute of Technology (4900) rounding out the top five.

After all five games, Jennifer Chiarillo led the Phoenix in scoring, with 1056 pins scored for an average of 211.2, which was good enough for eighth place within the tournament. The only other Phoenix bowler to bowl five games is Madison Taylor, and Taylor scored 914 pins for an average of 182.8. Cumberland had three bowlers bowl four games: Gracie Connelly, Serenity Freeman, and Kathleen Schraer. With Connelly averaging 196.5 pins, with a team high 235 in game four, Freeman averaging 178.75 pins, and Schraer averaging 177.5 pins. Carlie Semrau played two games and averaged 183.5 pins, and Madison Clayton played one game and scored 178 pins.

Heading into the second day of the tournament, Cumberland would bowl 16 baker games.

After the first set of baker games, Cumberland sits in fourth place in squad B with a score of 717 in the four games (179.25 average). Within the tournament, the Phoenix dropped to tenth place with a score of 5443. After the second set of baker games, the Phoenix would jump back into third, as Cumberland would score 768 pins (192 average) to get to 6211 halfway through day two. The Phoenix would remain in tenth place heading into the back half of the baker games. 

After 12 baker games, Cumberland would score 737 pins (184.25 average) and be jumped again by William Penn and drop to fourth with a tidal score of 6948. In the tournament, the Phoenix dropped out of the top ten to 12th. 

After the final games of the tournament, Cumberland would finish in 11th place with a score of 7655. The Phoenix scored 707 pins (176.25 average) in the last four baker games. In all 16 baker games, Cumberland scored 2929 pins (183.0625 average). Mount Mercy won the tournament with 8163 pins, Judson finished in second with 8032 pins, Northwestern Ohio finished in third with 7989 pins, Lawrence Tech finished in fourth with 7978 pins, and SCAD-Savannah finished in fifth with 7971.

The Phoenix are back in Mid-South Conference action next week as they head to Louisville to compete in the Lynne Jordan Memorial on Saturday, and the Thomas N Burris Memorial on Sunday.
