LEBANON, Tenn.—Cumberland freshman forward
Michael Nwoye has been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office, following a two-game stretch on the road.
Nwoye averaged 23.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 66.7 percent from the field across contests at No. 8 Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 18 Georgetown. He opened the week with a career-high 31-point performance at Cumberlands, going 12-of-17 from the floor while adding 12 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks in 39 minutes of play. He followed with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting at Georgetown.
Over the two games, Nwoye totaled 47 points, 17 rebounds, seven steals, and three blocks. Nwoye is averaging 13.1 points per game this season and leads the league in rebounds per game at 9.2 while shooting 54.4% from the field.
His performance marks his first Mid-South Conference weekly honor and highlights a strong start to his freshman campaign for the Phoenix. He joins

Riggs Abner who have each earned conference honors this season.
