Women’s Bowling Finishes In The Top Three To Start The MSC Weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Phoenix finish runner-up at Lynne Jordan Memorial Tournament

Cumberland Women's Bowling finishes in second out of nine teams at the MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial Tournament with a score of 5382 pins. The only team ahead of Cumberland was Pikeville, who scored 5987 pins. University of the Cumberlands finished in third with a score of 5359, Tennessee Wesleyan finished in fourth with a score of 5239, and Shawnee State finished in fifth with a score of 4762 to round out the top five. 

In the first game, the Phoenix scored 996 pins, and was good for second place, and only five pins behind Pikeville. Madison Taylor scored a team high 258 in the first game to set the pace for Cumberland. In game two, the Phoenix scored 990 pins to get the score to 1986, which was good for third, as Pikeville and Tennessee Wesleyan were tied for first with a score of 2001. Freeman was able to get a good second game going as Serenity Freeman was able to score 227 pins in game two. 

Heading past the halfway point of the standard games, Cumberland scored 975 pins to get a score of 2961, but Pikeville was able to gain some more separation as they were able to score 1161 pins to extend their lead. Taylor was able to get her second game of 250+ with a 255 in game three. Finally, after the last game, the Phoenix would sit in second as they get 960 pins from game four to get their final score to 3921, but Pikeville was able to create a massive gap between the field as they get 1173 pins to get their score to 4335 pins.

After four baker games, Cumberland was able to get 720 pins in those four games, which comes out to a 182.5 average, and they were able to gain a slight amount of separation from Tennessee Wesleyan and the Cumberlands behind them. Finally, after the last four games of the tournament, the Phoenix scored 731 pins, for an average of 182.75 pins per game, and reached that 5382 pin count. Pikeville scored 1652 pins in the eight baker games for an average of 206.5 per game. 

Individually, the Phoenix were able to get two bowlers into the top ten, with Taylor reaching fourth place with a score of 892 pins, and a 223 average. Freeman finished in ninth place with a score of 820, and a 205 pin average. Kaylie Gibson finished strong in the second two games to reach 16th place with a score of 785 and a 196.3 pin average. Jennifer Chiarillo finished in 18th place with a score of 781 and an average of 196.3. Kathleen Schraer finished 25th with a score of 730 and an average of 182.5 pins. Gracie Connelly and Carlie Semrau bowled only two games, with Semrau getting an average of 176.5 and Connelly scoring an average of 172.5.

The Phoenix get to stay in Louisville as they get ready for the Thomas N Burris Memorial Tournament tomorrow.
