Women’s Bowling Advances To MSC Conference Championship Final Behind Consistent Play On Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Phoenix bowl strong in all four sets they played in as Cumberland moves to finals on Saturday.

Cumberland Women's Bowling bowled two matches on Friday, with the first match having the Phoenix bowl against No. 6 Shawnee State. Cumberland was able to sweep the Bears in two sets, winning the first set 1028-822 and winning the second set 958-627. In the other match in the quarterfinals, No. 1 Pikeville was able to dominate and sweep No. 4 Cumberlands, with both sets reaching above 1100.

This will set the stage for the semifinal matchup between No. 2 Cumberland and No. 1 Pikeville. With the winner reaching the finals matchup on Saturday. This was a big matchup in the tournament, as the winner would only need one more win to be able to claim the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship. In this matchup, the Phoenix were able to get the upper hand on the Bears, sweeping Pikeville in two sets, winning the first set 1015-964, and winning the second set 998-942. Cumberland will be heading into Saturday already in the finals.

For who the Phoenix will face, they will have to wait, because the Cumberlands were able to advance through the other side of the bracket after they defeated No. 3 Tennessee Wesleyan and faced Shawnee State. The Bears and Patriots competed in a best-of-seven baker set to determine who advanced, and Shawnee State won in seven, with the Bears winning the final game 185-182. Shawnee State will be playing against Pikeville for a chance to face Cumberland in the finals. If the Phoenix were to lose the next game, they will have a winner-take-all final match right after.

The Phoenix will be heading into the final round for the second time in program history tomorrow with the opportunity to win their first Mid-South Conference Championship on Saturday!
