Men's Volleyball Look to Cause Another Upset as They Face Georgetown

LEBANON, TENN. - - Men's Volleyball are coming into Friday night's game full of confidence after their upset victory over No.4 Campbellsville, and will be looking to cause another upset as they face (RV) Georgetown College.

Cumberland come into the match with a 9-8 record and are 5-3 in conference play. In their most recent match the Phoenix handed the Campbellsville Tigers their first defeat of the season in a 3-1 victory.

Joao Infante surpassed 1000 career kills during the match as he finished with a total of 27 on the night and a .417 hitting percentage. Austin Kuehler found his groove and was setting up his teammates well with 50 assists on the night. The freshman is also second in the conference on assists per set, averaging 9.12. The Phoenix will be hoping Zendai Richards and Frederick Amegbletor will continue their recent form as the pair chipped in with nine and eight kills respectively in the win over the Tigers.

On the defensive Alexander Heuer is second in the conference on digs per set with 3.36. Francesco Corradini not only leads the conference but leads the nation in blocks per set, averaging 1.44.

Georgetown come into the match with a 10-6 overall record and are 5-1 in conference play. The Tigers are on a six game win streak, with their most recent match ending in a 3-1 victory over No.6 St. Thomas.

Michal Bak led Georgetown with 14 kills while Robin Puss and Adam Szewinski both chipped in with 12 each, Szewinski also sits second in the conference in hitting percentage, with a .451. So the Tigers have a number of threats the Phoenix will have to be wary of. Ilan Weinberger was in fine form with 37 assists and eight digs on the night. Georgetown are currently averaging a .273 hitting percentage.

In all time history Georgetown have dominated Cumberland, with a 0-10 record. The last match up between the two sides ended in a 1-3 victory for the Tigers. However, the Phoenix will be full of confidence after playing a great game against Campbellsville so will be looking to turn the tide and defeat Georgetown for the first time.

The match is set to start at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena at 6PM CT. Catch all the action live on the Cumberland Sports Network.
