Phoenix to Face Pomeroys in RSC Tournament Quarterfinal

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Men's volleyball will be on the road on Tuesday night as they face Saint Mary of the Woods College in the River States Conference Tournament.

Cumberland finished the regular season a 14-12 record and went 9-7 in conference play. The Phoenix picked up a number of No.15 wins including handing Campbellsville one of only two losses this season and shocked No.12 Reinhardt at home.

Joao Infante has led the Phoenix attack all season, as he has now earned ten River States and National Player of the Week accolades. The senior currently leads the conference in kills per set with 4.42 and has 98 kills more than second place in conference play. Zendai Richards has been a steady player for the Phoenix as he averages 2.47 kills per set, while Nage Hendrickson has totaled 158 kills on the season.

Freshman Austin Kuehler has made an impact since joining with an average of 8.86 assists per set, while Abdallah Roshdy has stepped up when called upon with 202 assists. On the defensive end Francesco Corradini sits third in conference play in blocks per set with 1.27, while Alexander Heuer has made some big plays with an average of 3.03 digs per set.

Saint Mary of the Woods wrapped up the regular season with a 27-8 record and went 9-7 in conference play, only taking the home tie off Cumberland on a tie breaker.

Bryan Pepen trails Infante in the second spot for kills per set with an average of 3.60, while Tomasz Swiderski has totaled 294 kills on the season. On the defensive end Yammiel Martinez sits second in conference play with blocks with an average of 1.28 per set. Jannis Pfeifer has also been a solid player for the Pomeroys with an average of 9.12 assists per season.

In the previous two match ups this season the Pomeroys have gotten the better of the Phoenix taking both games. However, both teams have had a very similar season so the Phoenix will be looking to turn the tide as they travel to Indiana on Tuesday night with a spot in the RSC semi finals up for grabs.

The game is set to start at 6PM CT. Catch the action live on the Saint Mary of the Woods Sports Network.
