Softball Heads to Campbellsville for Conference Play

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland Softball returns to Mid-South Conference action on the road this weekend with a three-game series at Campbellsville, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT and concluding with a single game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT.

The Phoenix enter the weekend at 15-19 overall and 5-8 in conference play, currently sitting sixth in the MSC standings, while Campbellsville comes in at 24-13 overall and 8-4 in league action, tied for second and riding an 11-game winning streak.

Cumberland's identity this season has been built around pitching and defense, ranking 62nd nationally in ERA (3.30) while holding opponents to a .267 batting average (54th nationally). The Phoenix have consistently kept games low-scoring, evidenced by multiple one-run contests in recent weeks, including a pair of 1-0 losses at Georgetown and back-to-back wins over Tennessee Wesleyan.

Freshman Avery Rauscher has emerged as one of the top arms in the conference, posting a 2.00 ERA with 88 strikeouts across 108.1 innings while holding opponents in check throughout the season. Madison Croxford provides a veteran presence with a 3.03 ERA, while Madison Lancaster adds depth to the rotation tossing 44.2 innings this season.

Campbellsville ranks 39th nationally in slugging percentage (.470) and 24th in home runs (26) while hitting .306 as a team. The Tigers feature a deep lineup with multiple hitters batting over .300, led by slap hitters Macy McCoy hitting .405 and Korey Harris hitting .387. The duo has combined for 25 stolen bases this season. Jessie Daniels, a two-time MSC Player of the Week and NAIA National Player of the Week honoree, leads the team with 48 RBI and nine home runs, while Lydia Jones enters the weekend fresh off MSC Player of the Week honors.

The Tigers' ability to generate extra-base hits (42nd nationally) and produce runs in bunches has been the driving force behind their 11-game winning streak.

Karley Daughrity leads the lineup with a .317 average and .403 on-base percentage, while Abby Chappell (.277) and Elly Castle (.272) provide consistency at the plate. Hailey Donato has supplied much of the team's power with three home runs and 17 RBI.

Campbellsville's pitching staff has been solid throughout the season, posting a 3.25 ERA and limiting opponents to a .270 batting average. Emma Markham (3.10 ERA) and Leah Holland (2.43 ERA) headline the rotation, with Holland owning a strong 7-2 record. Ellie Coley provides additional depth with a 3.36 ERA and experience in both starting and relief roles.

Campbellsville holds a 39-13 advantage in the all-time series, including a 5-23 record for Cumberland in road matchups. The Tigers have won eight of the last ten meetings and won the series last season.

First pitch is set for Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT, with the series finale scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT.
