Sungatullina Earns First Team Honors; Arbelaez Represented on MSC All-Conference Second Team

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - - The Mid-South Conference women's tennis year-end awards were announced by league officials this morning, seeing Elina Sungatullina and Maria Arbelaez both represented.

Elina Sungatullina was named to the First Team, her third MSC honor and the first First Team honor of her career. Sungatullina was excellent in singles play as she went 9-6 overall, chiefly playing at the four and five spot in the order. Her most wins came on court four, going 5-3, while she was undefeated on court five, 2-0.

In doubles play she was excellent as well, going 8-6 overall with a positive record alongside the other All-Conference honoree, Maria Arbelaez. When the pairing worked together on the top court, they went 5-4, while the Colombian only saw action with one other doubles partner all year long.

Arbelaez represented the Phoenix on the Second Team, her fourth time represented on an All-Conference team and her second appearance on the second team.  The Colombian shared a team-high wins total with Sungatullina with just one more loss on the year, going 9-6 overall. She saw her most wins on court three, where she went 5-4.

Marina Nagai leads the Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Year-End Awards. Nagai is the MSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year as selected by the conference coaches. Lindsey Wilson's (Ky.)
