Phoenix Will Look to Make it Four Wins From Four This Week

LEBANON, TENN. - - Men's Volleyball will look to make it four wins in a row as they host back to back conference games.

Coming into the game the Phoenix are 12-10 on the season and are 7-5 in conference play. In their most recent game the Phoenix swept Midway 3-0.

Joao Infante helped the Phoenix out with nine kills in the previous game and still leads the conference in kills per set with 4.27. Francesco Corradini has kept up his form in defense as the senior is third in the conference on blocks per set with 1.29. Frederick Amegbletor has been in fine form for the Phoenix with a total of 16 kills and nine blocks over the previous two games. Austin Kuehler has been having a solid freshman season as he is currently averaging 8.88 assists per set. As a team the Phoenix have a .246 hitting percentage and are holding their opponents to a .210.

Indiana University East come into the game 6-9 on the season and 4-7 in conference play. In their last match the Red Wolves fell in three straight sets to Rio Grande.

IU East will be hoping Arthur Barreto will be able to help them out as the senior currently leads the Red Wolves in kills per set with 3.21. Brayden Richardson is averaging 7.42 assists per set so he will be a key player in the Red Wolves attack on Thursday.

In the previous meeting between the two teams in early March the Phoenix stormed to a 3-0 victory which saw them take the lead in all time history with a score of two wins to one. So the Red Wolves will be hoping to get revenge on the road and tie up the all time record again.

On Friday night Cumberland will face the University of Rio Grande at home. Rio Grande come into the match 13-10 on the season and are 5-7 in conference play. In their most recent match the Red Storm fell in three sets to Georgetown Tigers.

Camilo Murillo will be a player the Phoenix will have to be aware of at the service line as he currently leads the conference in service aces per set with 0.69 as he picked one up against the Tigers. Otavio Tonoli led Rio in kills in the last match with nine while Daniel Rivas chipped in with eight. Rio Grande come into the game with a .222 hitting percentage.

In the previous meeting between the two sides earlier in the season resulted in a 3-0 win for the Phoenix which ensured that their perfect record of 9-0 remained intact. Rio Grande will be eager to bounce back after defeat to Georgetown, while the Phoenix will be looking to capitalize on the home crowd advantage and make it four wins from four this week.

Both games are set to start at 7PM CT on Thursday and Friday night at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena. Catch all the games live on the Cumberland Sports Network.
