Rauscher Leads Phoenix Past No. 18, Earns MSC Pitcher of the Week

LEBANON, Tenn.--Mid-South Conference officials announced Monday that Cumberland freshman Avery Rauscher has been named the Mid-South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Rauscher was outstanding in the circle, tossing two complete-game victories to lead the Phoenix to a pair of one-run wins over the 18th-ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots. The freshman right-hander went 2-0 on the week with a 1.87 ERA across 15.0 innings, allowing just four earned runs while striking out nine.

She opened the series with a complete-game effort in a 4-3 extra-inning win, working 8.0 innings while allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven. Rauscher followed that performance with another complete game in a 3-2 victory, limiting the Patriots to two runs over 7.0 innings to secure the series victory.

Rauscher has put together an impressive freshman campaign in the circle. She has made 22 appearances with 20 starts, posting a 10-9 record and a 2.35 ERA across 131.1 innings of work. Rauscher ranks among the conference leaders in several categories, including innings pitched (3rd), strikeouts (104, 3rd), wins (T-5th), and complete games (13, 3rd).

This marks the first Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of Rauscher's career.
