Cumberland Looks to Stay Hot Against No. 11 Blue Raiders

LEBANON, Tenn. - -  Cumberland softball returns home this weekend for a big Mid-South Conference test as the Phoenix welcome No. 11 Lindsey Wilson to Billy Dee Ross Stadium for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.

The series opens with a single game Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT, followed by a Saturday doubleheader scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT and 2:00 p.m. CT.

Cumberland enters the weekend riding a four-game winning streak after knocking off No. 19 UT Southern in a Wednesday doubleheader. The Phoenix leaned on strong pitching, timely hitting, and steady defense to earn 3-2 and 4-1 victories. Cumberland comes into the series at 14-17 overall and 3-6 in Mid-South Conference play.

Offensively, the Phoenix will look to third baseman Karley Daughrity to set the tone at the top of the lineup. Daughrity is batting .323 this season and leads the team with 31 hits while adding seven doubles, one home run, and 10 RBIs. Senior shortstop Abby Chappell has also been a key contributor, hitting .301 with six doubles, one home run, and 12 RBIs. Sophomore center fielder Hailey Donato continues to be a major part of the offense as well, batting .284 with six doubles while leading the team with three home runs and 17 RBIs.

In the circle, freshman Avery Rauscher has been a steady force for Cumberland all season. The right-hander carries a 7-6 record and a 2.14 ERA across 98 innings pitched, totaling 78 strikeouts and 10 complete games while holding opponents to a .233 batting average. Senior Madison Croxford has also provided quality innings, posting a 5-5 record with a 2.81 ERA in 62.1 innings while limiting opponents to a .259 average. Sophomore Madison Lancaster adds depth to the staff with 41 innings pitched this season.

Lindsey Wilson enters the weekend with a 29-4 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. The Blue Raiders sit atop the Mid-South Conference standings and are ranked No. 11 in the latest NAIA Top 25 poll. Lindsey Wilson won two of three games against Bethel last weekend.

The Blue Raiders bring one of the conference's most dangerous lineups into the series. Kaiden Rodgers leads the way with a .409 batting average, 45 hits, 13 doubles, three home runs, and 17 RBIs. Emerson McKinnis is hitting .360 with five home runs and 19 RBIs, while Natalie Wandrie is batting .353 with 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 19 RBIs. Sam Hartman rounds out the offensive attack with a .340 average, six doubles, three home runs, and 17 RBIs.

Lindsey Wilson is just as strong in the circle. Junior Kayden Murray has been one of the top pitchers in the conference, posting a 17-2 record with a 1.65 ERA and 149 strikeouts in 127 innings while holding opponents to a .210 batting average. Hallie Roberts has also been dominant, going 10-2 with a 1.89 ERA, 61 strikeouts, and an opponents' batting average of .241.

This weekend's matchup also brings plenty of history. The two programs have met 82 times since 2001, with Lindsey Wilson holding a 60-22 advantage in the all-time series. The Blue Raiders are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings, but Cumberland will look to use its recent momentum to pull off an upset at home.
