Cumberland Slides to No. 15 in Latest NAIA Rankings

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland women's soccer dropped three spots to No. 15 in the latest NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced Wednesday morning by the national office.

The Phoenix (9-3-1, 3-0-1 MSC) are tied for first place in the Mid-South Conference rankings with Lindsey Wilson. Since the last poll on October 1st, Cumberland has gone 2-1-1. The Phoenix drew with the Blue Raiders in Columbia and lost to Life, who jumped up in the polls to No. 12 with a 13-0-0 record, and beat Freed-Hardeman and Bethel in their last two conference games.

Offensively, the Phoenix remain one of the most productive teams in the NAIA, ranking 11th nationally in goals (52), 10th in assists (41), and 8th in total shots (276). Cumberland averages nearly 20 shots per game while converting at a .188 shot percentage, and their 3.85 goals per match sit among the best scoring rates in the country.

Defensively, CU has posted six shutouts and allowed just 1.08 goals per game this season. The Phoenix have been especially effective in conference play, outscoring Mid-South opponents 18-5 across four matches.

Keiser (Fla.) continues to hold the top spot in the national poll, earning 16 of 18 first-place votes. William Carey (Miss.) sits close behind at No. 2, boasting the nation's top-scoring offense with 92 goals. Marian (Ind.) remains unbeaten at No. 3, while the College of Idaho and Missouri Valley round out the top five after continuing their impressive runs through conference play.

The Mid-South Conference remains one of the most competitive leagues in the nation with three programs appearing in the Top 25. Cumberlands (Ky.) ranks No. 9, while Cumberland (Tenn.) comes in at No. 15 and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) ranks 22nd. Campbellsville got themselves back in the poll for the first time since mid-September as they received votes to be ranked, giving the MSC four teams in national consideration.

Cumberland returns to action next Monday for the final home contest of the regular season, taking on Georgetown College at 12:00 PM.
