Men's Tennis Compete in Mid-South Conference Fall Championship

LEBANON, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's tennis team took part in the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament this past weekend, as Elisey Kalashnikov and Mohamed Bouhlel won the second doubles flight.

In the top doubles flight the pairing of Carlos Morillas and Raphael Lee dropped their first matchup to the Cumberlands 6-4, and then were pushed all the way to the top of the loser's bracket with a pair of scratches from Georgetown.

Winning the second doubles flight, Kalashnikov and Bouhlel won their opening game over the Cumberlands 6-4, and routed Freed-Hardeman in their next round 6-0. Finally, in their championship game they took down another pair from the Cumberlands 6-4.

In the same flight the pairing of Arne Sohmer and Arthur Fernandes won their opening round matchup over Freed-Hardeman before falling in the next round before falling to Lindsey Wilson.

Elisey Kalashnikov fell in his lone singles matchup of the weekend to Lindsey Wilson, 6-4, 6-1.

Raphael Lee manned the ship at the second singles spot, winning in game one over FHU, 6-3, 6-4. In his next game though, the German fell 6-0, 6-2.

Making it to the loser's brackets championship, Mohamed Bouhlel fell in the opening round to Lindsey Wilson, 7-6, 6-2, but quickly recovered to win via retirement 6-1, 3-0. Also making it to the championship, Carlos Morillas fell in the first round to the Cumberlands but found his way back on track with a 6-1, 6-1 over Georgetown.
