Sohmer and Bouhlel Make Singles Run as Men's Tennis Take Part in ITA Event

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - - This past weekend several players from the Cumberland men's tennis team took part in the 2025 ITA NAIA Men's Southeast Regional Championships

In doubles action it was just the pairing of Arne Sohmer and Arthur Fernandes who competed. In the opening round the side took down Milligan 6-2 to advance and take on UT Southern in their next match but the Firehawks would get the best of the Phoenix, 6-2.

Singles action saw more success for Sohmer who won his first match in a tough three setter over Bethel, 1-6, 6-2, 10-8. The following round was a smoother 6-4, 6-4 win over UT Southern, but it was a Firehawk getting revenge for their teammate and taking down Sohmer in the following round, 6-2, 6-2.

Mohamed Bouhlel also made it through three rounds of play, opening his weekend with a rout of Pikeville, 6-0, 6-0. The next round he managed a good win over conference foes the Cumberlands, 3-6, 6-4, 10-6, before then ultimately falling in the next round to Milligan, 6-2, 6-2.

Arthur Fernandes also competed and dropped his first round matchup to Campbellsville, 7-5, 2-6, 5-10.
