Phoenix Close Out Carey Collegiate with their Best Round

HATTIESBURG, Miss.--Cumberland women's golf finishes in sixth place at the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club on Tuesday. The Phoenix posted their best round of the tournament shooting a 309. Cumberland finished at 948 strokes in total to finish in sixth place. 

No.1 Keiser won the event at 896 total strokes. The Seahawks led throughout shooting a 296-299-301 across their three rounds. No. 6 Dalton State finished in second place at 903 total strokes followed by No. 19 Loyola in third at 914. The host and eighth-ranked William Carey Crusaders took fourth place at 918 followed by No. 9 Lindsey Wilson in fifth at 928. The Phoenix trailed the Blue Raiders by 20 strokes. 

Matilda Lind led the Phoenix with a 14th place finish. Lind shot a three-over 75 in her final round carding three birdies on No. 9, No. 15, and finishing with a birdie on No. 3. Lind totaled 229 strokes to finish at 13-over-par for the tournament. 

Lucy Labdon finished tied for 23rd place at 238 strokes. Labdon finished with a two-stroke improvement over her first two rounds shooting a 78. She posted back-to-back birdies on No. 8 and No. 9 and carded nine pars, six bogeys, and one double. 

Alba McCorquodale moved up the leaderboard to finish just behind Labdon in 26th place at 240 strokes. McCorkquodale shot a 77 in her final round also firing three birdies. She birdied No. 8, No. 13, and No. 5, her final hole of the day. She added in nine pars, four bogeys, and one double.

Franziska Mramor also posted her best round of the event, shooting a seven-over 79. Mramor finished with 243 total strokes and tied for 32nd place. Mramor had just one birdie in her final round on No. 13 with nine pars and eight bogeys. 

Crystal Zamzow continued the trend of playing their best round on the final day of the event shooting a 80. Zamzow tied for 34th place at 245 total shots. Zamzow carded a birdie on par-3 No. 16 with 11 pars, five bogeys, and two doubles. 

Caitlyn Bilham and Katelyn DeHart competed as individuals at the event for the Phoenix. Bilham finished in 42nd place with 262 strokes. Bilham shot an 84 in her final round. DeHart finished in 45th at 274 strokes shooting a 93 in her final round.

Sara Burger from Dalton State finished as the individual medalist. Burger finished at even-par through three rounds at 216 strokes. 

Cumberland will be back on the links on October 20-21 at the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by Dalton State at Dalton Country Club.
