Phoenix Women Wrap Up Vanderbilt Invitational on Day Two

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Cumberland women's track and field team closed out competition Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

In the short sprints, Zora Neal returned to the track for the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 8.43 seconds to finish 53rd overall. The Phoenix were also represented in the shot put, where Avery Crockett recorded a throw of 8.72 meters to place 20th, while Rita Francis followed closely behind with a mark of 7.90 meters.

On the track, Leesa Mutandwa competed in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 1:01.06 to finish 42nd in a field of 54 runners. Cumberland rounded out the day in the distance events, as Wendy Komane and Alexa Rumpf both took on the 3,000 meters. Komane clocked a time of 11:43.36, while Rumpf followed with a time of 13:01.01.

The Phoenix return to the track on January 30 and 31 at the Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville.
