LEBANON, Tenn.-- Phoenix look to get revenge for previous loss on the road to the Tigers as they host No. 15 Georgetown on Saturday.
Cumberland (10-14, 2-7 MSC) is coming off of a strong defensive effort, however they fell to the No. 17 Cumberlands 51-66. The Phoenix are looking to get back on track on offense. In the first matchup between Cumberland and Georgetown, the Tigers dominated the Phoenix 104-81.
Offensively, the Phoenix average 76.0 points per game, 44.9% shooting from the field, 31.8% from three, and 68.0% from the free throw line. On defense, the Phoenix allow 78.0 points per game on 44.2% shooting from the field, 33.1% from three, and 68.6% from the free throw line. Looking at the rebounding battle, the Phoenix average 37.4 rebounds per game (11.66 offensive rebounds) and allow 37.3 rebounds per game (11.66 offensive rebounds).
Individually, the Phoenix are led by redshirt junior guard Triston Conger, who is averaging 17.7 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 3.8 assists per game. To go along with the offensive stats, Conger is averaging 1.9 steals per game as well. The Hendersonville native is looking to improve over his last game against Georgetown, where he had 15 points, five rebounds, and six assists. Freshman forward Michael Nwoye is having a strong freshman year, averaging 12.2 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game (3.1 offensive rebounds per game), and 1.5 steals per game. Nwoye had a strong performance in Georgetown, with the Antioch native scoring 16 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Freshman guard Zaylin Rowland has started to become a consistent starter in the Phoenix backcourt, averaging 10.1 points per game and shooting 34.1% from behind the arc. Nick Brunetti (9.1 points), Riggs Abner (6.7 points), and Jake Hatch (5.7 points) provide solid scoring depth for the Phoenix.
Georgetown (19-6, 5-4 MSC) is coming off of a 73-61 win over No. 17 Cumberlands last Saturday. As a team, the Tigers average 84.0 points per game, while shooting 47.7% from the field, 34.0% from three, and 66.7% from the free throw line. Defensively, Georgetown allows 71.2 points per game on 41.2% shooting from the field and 30.0% from behind the arc. Looking at the battle on the glass, the Tigers collect 39.6 rebounds per game (11.4 offensive rebounds) and allow 36.4 rebounds per game (10.6 offensive rebounds per game).
Individually for Georgetown, senior guard Isaiah Mason leads the way. With Mason averaging 15.2 points per game on 53.4/38.3/61.3 shooting splits, while also averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game. In the last matchup with Cumberland, Mason scored 15 points, collected eight rebounds and distributed six assists. Senior guard Darien Lewis has been the main distributor of the Tiger offense, with Lewis averaging 10.9 points per game on 44.6/33.7/67.6 shooting splits and averaging 3.6 assists per game. In the previous matchup against the Phoenix, Lewis scored 16 points and distributed six assists.
In the all-time series between Cumberland and Georgetown, the Phoenix only have four wins in the 37 all-time matchups, and have only one win in the past five seasons. When the Phoenix host the Tigers, they have a record of 3-13.
