Women's Golf Opens Spring Schedule at Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite

VALDOSTA, Ga.--Cumberland Women's Golf opened up the spring slate in seventh place after day one of the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite.

Competing against a loaded field that featured six nationally ranked programs, Cumberland posted a 36-hole total of 641 to sit in seventh overall. 

The Phoenix opened with a 325 in round one before trimming nine strokes in round two with a 316.

SCAD Atlanta holds the lead heading into day two at 603 strokes (298-305), edging Dalton State in second at 612 (308-304). Eastern Florida State and SCAD Savannah are tied for third at 623, while Truett McConnell is in fifth at 632. Southeastern followed in sixth at 635, and UMobile rounded out the field in eighth at 785.

Alba McCorquodale leads the way for the Phoenix tied for 12th at 157 strokes. She posted a 79 in round one carding one birdie on No. 6 with 10 pars, six bogeys and one double. McCorquodale improved by one stroke in round two with a 78 firing three birdies in the round. 

Matilda Lind is tied for 14th place after shooting an 80 and a 78. Lind carded one birdie in each round, both on par threes. She finished her first round with seven bogeys and a double before improving with 10 pars and seven bogeys in the second round. She has totaled 158 strokes. 

Franziska Mramor tied for the team-low in round one shooting a 79, but backed that up with a 82 to drop 11 spots down the leaderboard to tie for 23rd place. In her first round she picked up a birdie on No. 5 with seven bogeys and one double. Her second round, Mramor picked up 10 pars, seven bogeys, and one triple. 

Lucy Labdon sits tied for 34th place. Labdon had a slow start shooting an 87 in round one, but improved by six strokes in round two to finish with an 80. Crystal Zamzow is one stroke behind Labdon tied for 36th place. Zamzow also had a slow start in the morning round shooting a 90 before posting a 79 in round two. 

The Phoenix will wrap up their first tournament of the spring tomorrow at Kinderlou Forest.
