Asya Tilsim Timur Opens Conference Weekend Strong; Earns First Career MSC Player of the Week

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Asya Tilsim Timur had a stellar weekend against Indiana Wesleyan and Campbellsville, garnering her first career Mid-South Conference Player of the Week award.

The Turkish sophomore has played at either one or two singles all season long and this weekend she picked up two commanding wins at the second spot. Timur won in straight sets in both matches, taking down a ranked opponent in Indiana Wesleyan by a score of 6-2, 7-5.

She then backed up that win with another strong performance against Campbellsville in the Phoenix's conference opener, winning 6-4, 6-1. In doubles she's also been excellent, taking down IWU's number three doubles pairing, 6-2. Her only fault of the week would be against Campbellsville where she was just shy of a perfect weekend, falling 6-4 alongside Madeleine Darud.

This is the first weekly award of the season for the Phoenix, who will be back in action this Saturday against the No. 13 ranked Cumberlands Patriots.
