Women’s Golf Three Shots Back After Opening Day at MSC Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.–Cumberland sits firmly in contention after day one of the Mid-South Conference Championship, holding third place in a tightly packed leaderboard at Bowling Green Country Club.

Lindsey Wilson leads the field following the low-round of the day at 624 strokes. The Blue Raiders shot a 310 and finished with a 314. University of the Cumberlands is just two strokes back in second after carding 626 shots with a 312 and 314, while the Phoenix sits in third with 626, only three shots off the lead heading into the final round. Cumberland shot a 313 and 314 in there rounds. 

Bethel holds fourth place after posting 643, while Freed-Hardeman rounds out the top five at 657. Campbellsville is in sixth at 687 and Georgetown is in seventh at 688. 

Crystal Zamzow sits in second place after a strong day one. Zamzow shot a 76-76 to total 152 strokes. She opened with a steady four-over 76, pacing the Phoenix in round one. Zamzow fired three birdies in four holes on No. 15, 17, and 18 to highlight her first round. Zamzow followed up her opening round with a second four-over 76. She added one birdie on Hole 2 before firing 13 pars in the round. She trails the leader by two strokes. 

Lucy Labdon had a great second round to jump up the leaderboard to sit inside the Top 5 in fourth. She finished with a 81 in round one, carding a 39 on the front nine before slipping to a 42 on the back. She had one birdie in round one on the par-three third. In round two, she fired three birdies en route to a two-over 74 to shoot up the board. 

Matilda Lind is tied for 11th place after finishing day one with 161 strokes.  She turned in a five-over 77 in the opening round. Lind started slow starting on No. 10. She was at five-over after her first five holes, but played the rest of the round even with one birdie on No. 1 and one bogey on No. 9. Lind carded just one birdie in her second shooting an 84 to slip down. 
 
Alba McCorquodale is in 22nd place at 165 strokes. She carded a 79 in round one before finishing with a 86. She posted one birdie, six bogeys, one double, and 10 pars in round one. She add seven pars in round two. 

Franziska Mramor is tied for 24th at 167 strokes. She shot a 87 in round one before improving seven strokes in round two to finish with a 80. She posted two birdies, eight bogeys and one double in her second round. 

The final round will be played tomorrow with the winner earning an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship.
