Zamzow and Labdon Finish Top Five as Phoenix Land in Second at MSC Championship

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - - The Cumberland women's golf team climbed to second place after their final round at Bowling Green Country Club, but were unable to upset the University of the Cumberlands.

The Patriots were sat just ahead of the Phoenix, while trailing only Lindsey Wilson after the first two rounds. The Williamsburg, Kentucky team saved their best round for last, firing in the only round of less than 20 for any team in the tournament.

Cumberland rounded out their tournament by flipping a three stroke deficit to Lindsey Wilson into a one stroke lead, seeing the Blue Raiders finish in third place with a total of 938, to the Phoenix's 937.

Bethel landed in fourth place with a score of 970, beating out Freed-Hardeman by a narrow margin of just four strokes. Campbellsville and Georgetown both struggled as they eclipsed the century mark, shooting 1019 and 1028 respectively.

Crystal Zamzow compounded on her excellent first two rounds with her low round in her final 18, firing in three birdies on the way to a three over 75. The second place finish gives her the highest finish of her career, as well as her highest mark since the MSC Fall Preview where she shot 23 over.

Lucy Labdon was also excellent, shooting her second-best round of the tournament, posting a 76 with 11 pars and two birdies. The junior was a consistent force all weekend, placing fourth in the event with countless ranked golfers, also seeing her highest collegiate finish.

Matilda Lind shot nine over in the final round, seeing her go 26 over for a tie for 15th place. Separated by just two strokes, her teammate Alba McCorquodale matched her low round, shooting 79, to help her climb five spots to 17th.

Franziska Mramor wrapped things up for the Phoenix starting five, matching her best round like McCorquodale as she went eight over in the final round to tie for 21st.

Cumberland will now await an at-large bid to the National Tournament.
