Fredriksson Earns NAIA GCAA PING All-Midwest Region Honors

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland junior men's golfer Gustav Fredriksson has been named to the 2026 NAIA GCAA PING All-Midwest Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Fredriksson became one of just 15 golfers across the Midwest Region to earn the honor after putting together an outstanding junior campaign for the Phoenix. The native of Sweden capped off the season by winning the Mid-South Conference individual championship, becoming the first Cumberland golfer to claim MSC medalist honors since 2011 and earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship.

Fredriksson finished the season with a 72.4 adjusted scoring average across 26 rounds while ranking No. 72 nationally in the Clippd performance rankings.

His strongest performance came at the Mid-South Conference Championship in late April, where he carded a three-under par score across three rounds to finish first in a 44-player field and secure the individual conference title. Fredriksson also posted a fifth-place finish at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invitational and a seventh-place finish at the Music City Collegiate while finishing even or under par in four of his final seven tournaments.

Fredriksson wrapped up his season yesterday at the 2026 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run, where he finished tied for 60th overall.

Fredriksson is the latest Phoenix to earn the award. Christian Lindgreen and Tom Scullion we're the last two to earn it in 2023-24.
