Men's Golf Receives Votes in the Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--Cumberland University men's golf will begin the 2026-27 season receiving votes in the NAIA Men's Golf Coaches' Preseason Top 25, the national office announced Friday.

The Phoenix enter the new season following a third-place finish at the 2026 Mid-South Conference Championship and return MSC individual champion Gustav Fredriksson to lead the lineup.

Fredriksson captured medalist honors at the Mid-South Conference Championship last spring, earning the conference's individual automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship. He went on to represent Cumberland at the national championship as an individual.

Cumberland is one of four Mid-South Conference programs recognized in the preseason rating. Lindsey Wilson leads the conference at No. 4 nationally, while Cumberlands is ranked No. 22. Cumberland and conference member Columbia are among the teams receiving votes.

Keiser (Fla.) begins the season at No. 1 after collecting 13 of the 18 first-place votes and 473 points. Friends (Kan.) is ranked second with four first-place votes, followed by Dalton State (Ga.) at No. 3 and Lindsey Wilson at No. 4. Reinhardt (Ga.) and Webber International (Fla.) are tied for fifth.

The preseason poll is the first of seven ratings scheduled for the 2026-27 season. Two additional fall ratings will be released Oct. 16 and Oct. 30 before the spring schedule begins March 25. The final rating will be released May 6 ahead of the 2027 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship in Fayetteville, Ga.

The Phoenix will open up the 2026-27 season at the Firehawk Fall Invite hosted by Tennessee Southern on Monday and Tuesday September 14-15.
