Istre Represents Cumberland in 200m Dash at Nationals

ASHEVILLE, N.C.--NAIA Outdoor National Championship competition opened Wednesday evening for Cumberland University as Logan Istre represented the Phoenix in the men's 200m preliminaries.

Competing in heat three of the event, Istre crossed the line in 21.67 against one of the top sprint fields in the NAIA. The senior finished 19th overall in the national preliminaries. Nicholas Altheimer of St. Thomas University posted the top preliminary time at 20.58 to lead the field into the finals.

Daveina Watson will be in action tomorrow in the women's shot put beginning at 4:00 p.m. Watson has the fourth-best mark in the NAIA this season. Watson is a four-time NAIA All-American in the shot put earning two All-American in outdoor and two in Indoor.
