Men's Track & Field finish in Fourth at MSC Championships

COLUMBIA, Ky.-- Cumberland men's track and field took fourth place at the Mid-South Conference Championships, hosted by Lindsey Wilson.

Cumberlands won the team title with 285.50 points, followed by Lindsey Wilson with 201.50 and Campbellsville with 146. Cumberland placed fourth overall with 66 points, finishing ahead of Georgetown with 62, Bethel with 39, and Freed-Hardeman with 28.

Dinkon Sinisterra won the decathlon, competing across all ten events and showcasing his versatility throughout the two-day competition while contributing across several disciplines including the pole vault, discus, javelin, and 1500 meters.

On the track, Logan Istre led the Phoenix sprint group with a runner-up finish in the 200 meters, clocking a 21.90 after qualifying at 22.02, while also placing third in the 400 meters in 47.89. Veron Ifill added a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters in 49.75.

In the middle distance and distance events, Matteo Abel paced Cumberland with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters in 1:55.51 and a fourth-place showing in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:27.41. Elliott Hughes competed in both the 800 and 1500 meters, placing 13th in the 800 in 2:05.22 and 10th in the 1500 meters in 4:09.17, while Garrett Tunks added an 11th-place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:14.50.

Mohamed Hatem Galal placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.97 and followed with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.15. Dinkon Sinisterra competed in the 110-meter hurdles as well, finishing seventh with a time of 15.51.

In the field events, Oghene Orekevwie delivered a podium performance in the triple jump, placing third with a mark of 14.19 meters.

The Phoenix relay squad of Istre, Ifill, Sinisterra, and Hatem Galal combined to place fourth in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:29.37.
