Sinisterra’s Multi-Event Effort Leads Phoenix on Day One at MSC Championships

COLUMBIA, Ky.--Mid-South Conference Track & Field Championships opened Sunday at Lindsey Wilson, with the Cumberland men's track & field team earning eight points and sitting seventh after day one of competition.

The Phoenix totaled eight points on the opening day to sit in seventh place. The University of the Cumberlands leads the field with 98 points. Lindsey Wilson is in second place with 63 points with Campbellsville just behind them in third at 56 points.

Georgetown is in fourth place at 38 points with Bethel in fifth at 18. Freed-Hardeman is in sixth place with 13 with the Phoenix following in seventh.

Dinkon Sinisterra led the way for Cumberland with a strong all-around performance, scoring in multiple events. He placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 44.72 meters to earn five points, while also adding three points with a sixth-place finish in the pole vault (2.95m).

Sinisterra also currently leads the decathlon standings with 1,687 points through the first events.

On the track, Logan Istre advanced through the 200-meter dash prelims with a second-place qualifying time of 22.02, earning a spot in Friday's finals. Veron Ifill also competed in the 200m prelims, finishing 13th (22.69), while Abdoulaye Bah recorded a 20th-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.59) and did not finish in the 200m prelims.

In the field events, Sinisterra added a 13th-place mark of 6.00 meters in the long jump.

Cumberland will look to climb the standings on Monday as the Mid-South Conference Championships continue.
