LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Cumberland University opened competition at the Jim Freeman / Clark Woods Invitational on Thursday with Dinkon Sinisterra representing the Phoenix in the decathlon at the University of Louisville.

Sinisterra's top result of the day came in the decathlon high jump, where he cleared 1.76 meters for a personal best. He also delivered a notable mark in the long jump, reaching 6.66 meters (21 feet, 10.25 inches).

On the track, Sinisterra ran 11.48 seconds in the decathlon 100 meters. He later posted a 51.22 in the decathlon 400 meters, adding another solid effort to a busy opening stretch of the multi-event competition.

Sinisterra also scored in the throws, recording 11.57 meters (37-11.50) in the shot put. 

He will complete the decathlon events tomorrow while the rest of the Phoenix will kick-off the event.
