Women's Bowling Take First Place and Grab First Program Victory at Spring Hill Classic

Lebanon, Tenn. - - The Cumberland Women's Bowling team took first place in this weekend's Spring Hill Classic in Pensacola, Florida.

Collecting a tournament high 6912 pins throughout their two days of action, the Phoenix were pushed all weekend by Emmanuel University but a big second day propelled them into pole position.

Cumberland had three bowlers elected to the All-Tournament team, as Alyssa Campbell, Gracie Connelly, and Kathleen Schraer all represented the Phoenix to the highest standard.

Campbell finished in second place individually, kicking her weekend off with a tremendous first game where she scored a 246, good for a tournament-high. She totaled 990 pins over her five games and was only bested by Gillian Moore of Emmanuel University.

Connelly and Schraer battled back and forth throughout their series, with two of their five games being separated by just a single pin. Connelly finished as the fourth best bowler individually, collecting 974 pins for an average of 194.8.

Just behind her was her teammate Kathleen Schraer who grabbed just four less pins, scoring 970, for an average of 194.

Four more Phoenix finished in the top 15 individually, as Carlie Semrau and Madison Clayton both rounded out the top ten for the Phoenix with scores of 926 and 895 respectively.

Madison Taylor finished just outside the top ten with a score of 883, averaging 176.6 throughout her five games. Finishing adjacent to her, Kelci Young collected 878 pins and was just behind her fellow Phoenix with an average of 175.6.

The Phoenix will be back in action next month, competing in the Keystone Quaker Classic on December 18th and 19th.
