Semrau Highlights Phoenix Efforts in MSC Singles & Doubles; Phoenix Roll in Team Play

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--The Cumberland women's bowling team turned in solid performances at the Mid-South Conference Doubles and Singles Championships, led by Carlie Semrau's sixth-place finish in both events.

In doubles play, Semrau and Kaylie Gibson combined for a total score of 1,124 to secure a sixth-place finish. Semrau paced the pair with a 602 series, rolling games of 212, 210, and 180, while Gibson added a 522 series, highlighted by a 202 in game three.

Gracie Connelly and Alyssa Campbell finished 10th with a combined total of 1,043 pins. Connelly led the way with a 539 series, posting a high game of 224, while Campbell contributed a 504 series. Serenity Freeman and Kathleen Schraer placed 13th overall with a total of 1,023, as Freeman rolled a 515 series and Schraer followed with a 508.

Rounding out the Phoenix competitors, Jenny Chiarillo and Madison Clayton finished 15th with a combined score of 1,000. Chiarillo delivered a strong 577 series, including a 215 in game three, while Clayton added a 423 series.

In singles action, Semrau again led Cumberland with a sixth-place finish after posting 602 pins. Chiarillo followed in 11th place with a 577 series, while Connelly claimed 18th with a 539 total pins. Gibson tied for 22nd with a 522 series, and Freeman (515) and Schraer (508) finished back-to-back in 25th and 26th place. Campbell took 27th with a 504 series, while Clayton finished 44th with a total of 423.

The Phoenix opened up double-elimination play tonight against 8-seed Campbellsville. Cumberland cruised past the Tigers with a 4-0 sweep to advance in the winner's bracket: 171-114 / 190-110 / 147-144 / 173-118.

Cumberland will open up against the 4-seed, the University of the Cumberlands tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
