Phoenix Track & Field Has Final Tune Up Before Indoor MSC Championship Next Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Cumberland University's men's and women's track and field teams had one final tune up to get times down before the Mid-South Conference Championships this Friday.

Despite facing formidable opponents in several NCAA Power 5 schools and SEC competition, both squads showcased their determination and highlighted numerous commendable performances.

On the men's side, standout athlete Jhonatan Rodriguez Osorn delivered a remarkable performance in the 600m, securing 10th place out of 39 participants with a noteworthy time of 1:20.48, which also ranked as the 12th best in the NAIA to meet A standards. Likewise, Joel Forbes continued to excel in the 800m event, posting a solid time of 1:54.25, securing 23rd place out of 24 participants. The time met NAIA A standards, but earlier this season he notched an even better time of 1:53.18.

On the women's side, Daveina Watson's performance in the Shot Put event stood out as a highlight, as she achieved a season-high throw of 14.57m, securing 11th place out of 30 participants.

The Music City Challenge was an opportunity for Cumberland to get a few more qualifiers for different events for the Championships coming up next Friday.
