Cumberland Men’s Track and Field Opens UAB Spring Invitational with Top Ten Finishes

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-- In their second meet of the outdoor season, Cumberland men's track and field finished day one of the UAB Spring Invitational with four top-ten finishes.

Once again, the Phoenix held their own against tough NCAA Division I programs, with all four competitors achieving top-ten placements.

Dinkon Sinisterra impressed with a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw, covering a distance of 42.17 meters to earn the Phoenix four points.

Scarlassara Liyu secured eighth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.16 meters.

Juan Orejuela De La Rosa finished ninth in the hammer throw with a throw of 35.57 meters.

Charles Hughes was the sole Phoenix to race, finishing eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.87.

The Phoenix will close out the UAB Spring Invitational tomorrow with the first event kicking off at 9:00 AM CT.
