Cumberland Men's Track and Field Earn Top-20 Finishes in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-- The Cumberland men's track and field team had eight athletes place in the top-20 against tough competition from NCAA Division I opponents.

In the track events, Jhonatan Rodriquez Osorno and Tahmar Upshaw ran in the 800m, finishing eleventh and thirteenth, respectively, with times of 1:53.63 and 1:54.09.

Shawn Katsidzira tackled the 110m hurdles, finishing fifteenth with a time of 15.11, while Dinkon Sinisterra followed closely behind in nineteenth place with a time of 15.85.

Edwin Kigen represented Cumberland in the 5000m, securing twenty-first place with a time of 15:42.28, while Benjamin Nyakudya competed in the men's 400m, finishing twenty-third with a time of 49.29.

Charles Hughes finished twenty-fifth in the men's 1500m with a time of 4:07.71.

In the field events, Juan Orejuela De La Rosa made his mark, securing tenth place in the shot put with a distance of 15.99 meters.

Scarlassara Liyu competed in the high jump, finishing twelfth with a jump of 1.95 meters.

Tate Tevaughn finished thirteenth in the men's javelin throw with a throw of 56.06 meters, with Dinkon Sinisterra finishing twentieth with a distance of 45.26 meters in the same event.

Looking ahead, the Phoenix will travel to Rome, Georgia, next week to compete in the Berry College Field Day Invitational and Multi's, a three-day meet kicking off on April 11.
