GEORGETOWN, Ky.--Cumberland University Cheer showcased strong performances to open up the season at the Tiger Invite, finishing third in the opening round before climbing to second place in the final round.

The Phoenix posted a score of 79.62 in the first round, landing behind Cumberlands, who took the top spot with 92.36, and Georgetown, who scored 86.37. Brescia (66.07) and Lindsey Wilson (62.78) rounded out the standings in the opening round.

In the second round, Cumberland improved to a score of 80.71, moving ahead of Lindsey Wilson (68.72) and Brescia (65.13) to claim second place. The University of the Cumberlands won the second round as well with another strong performance, scoring 89.78. 

The Phoenix will hit the mat again on February 15 at the Campbellsville Invitaition in Campbellsville.
