Cumberland Cheer Finishes Fourth at NCA College Nationals

DAYTONA, Fla.--Cumberland University cheer capped off a stellar showing at the 2025 NCA College Nationals with a fourth-place finish in the Intermediate Small Coed NAIA division, posting an impressive final event score of 85.8727 on Friday.

The Phoenix advanced to the finals after placing sixth in Thursday's preliminary round. In finals competition, they delivered a sharp and clean routine with a raw score of 78.2667 and just 0.25 points in deductions. With the final score calculated as 25% of the preliminary score and 75% of the final performance, Cumberland climbed two spots in the standings to finish fourth in the nation.

Roosevelt University claimed the national championship with a commanding final score of 92.2871. They followed up their top prelim performance with another strong outing on Friday, earning a raw score of 84.2333 and only 0.75 points in deductions.

Friends University secured second place with an 88.5301, and Park University surged into third place behind a strong finals routine that earned them an 87.1944. Cumberland's score narrowly edged out Central Methodist University, who had higher raw scores on both days but were hampered by deductions in the finals, finishing with an 85.5926.

St. Thomas University placed sixth overall with a 83.2593, followed by Point Park University in seventh at  80.7431, Lyon College in eighth at 75.8149, and Missouri Baptist in ninth at  73.9167.

This was the first time Cumberland Cheerleading has ever competed at the NCA Nationals in program history.
