Men's Track & Field Kick-Off Campaign at Ed Temple Classic

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland men's track and field collect a couple of wins in their season opener at the Ed Temple Classic in Nashville.

Mustapha Bokpin highlighted the day for the Cumberland men picking up two wins in his freshman debut.  Bopkin dominated the 55-meter dash, winning the preliminaries with a time of 6.34 seconds before improving to 6.28 seconds in the final, securing 10 points for the team. He continued his success in the 400 meters, where he crossed the line first in 49.06 seconds to add another 10 points to Cumberland's total. 

Fellow freshman Veron Ifill also contributed with a solid fifth-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking 51.31 seconds and earning four points. In the 55-meter hurdles, senior Renaldo Savoury advanced to the final with a preliminary time of 8.31 seconds but was unfortunately disqualified in the final.

Junior Ahmed Demerdash made his mark in the triple jump, placing sixth with a leap of 13.40 meters to earn five points for the team.

The team will remain in Nashville next weekend as they head to Vanderbilt for the Commodore Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
